Episode 64 - Tim Blake, The Emerald Cup

Episode 64 is the 10th episode of Season 2. We're joined today by Tim Blake the founder of The Emerald Cup!

Tim started using cannabis at the age of fourteen and began a 40 plus year career as a cannabis outlaw when he was sixteen. Tim earned his real estate license at the age of nineteen, he co-founded several production companies and in 1998 bought an old campground 10 miles north of Laytonville, California on Highway 101. He renamed it “Area 101,” and it’s where Tim produced the first Emerald Cup nineteen years ago.

The Emerald Cup is now the largest, most respected, outdoor cannabis competition in the world with over 25,000+ attendees. It focuses on the advancement of sustainable, outdoor farming honoring the year’s finest, organic, sun-grown, cannabis harvest. Along with the competition, The Emerald Cup curates over 300+ vendors, musical performances from local to multi-platinum-selling artists and experts and educators to speak on “what’s next” in the cannabis and wellness industries.

As a lifelong activist, Tim was a co-founder of Mendocino Farmers Collective & Healing Harvest Farms; a founding member of Coalition for Cannabis Policy Reform (CCPR)/ReformCA (Prop 64); Mendocino Cannabis Policy Council (MCPC); Mendocino Cannabis Industry Association (MCIA). Tim continues to work on policy, regulation and best practices in the industry.

Tim's dedication to wellness and meditation goes back to the ‘70’s and his personal goal is to help the world integrate cannabis, organic food and spiritual living into an active holistic lifestyle. His interest in the ET's and the anthropological study of humans and societies in the past and present on Earth is a fascinating journey and discussion beyond his successes in the Cannabis industry. Tim has recently finished writing two books, which are with his literary agent and publishers at this time. Tim is signed with Ken Hertz of Hertz, Lichtenstein, Young, and Polk for a TV show based on his memoirs.

Tim is a speaker at many conferences such at SXSW, Digital Hollywood's California Cannabis Forum, MJBiz, Fest Forums, Spannabis, New West Summit and has been featured in mainstream and industry press such as Business Insider, Forbes, Cannabis Now, SF Chronicle, Green Entrepreneur, HuffPost, Benzinga and more.

For two decades, Emerald Cup’s weekend-long, festival-style event is the most anticipated cannabis gathering of the year and continues to serve as the market’s preferred grassroots networking hub.  Come for the weed, stay for the music, art, good vibes and great people!

See you at the Emerald Cup on August 17th-18th, 2024 in Oakland California at the Henry J Kaiser Center For The Arts.
